One Blustery Day...

Life lesson #182... Things don't always go as planned. Or it's quite possible we're not actually in control. Imagine! So, it was with huge disappointment that I came to terms with the reality of the current weather situation on Saturday. About a month ago, a dear friend came to me (the morning after I posted my website) and asked, "So, can I be one of your clients?" Liza, you are too sweet! This was after she had already been so supportive and encouraging, allowing me to practice with her adorable baby girl, Addison, and sending plenty of welcome praise my way! Well, after checking my hourly weather forecast regularly, hoping for some change, we realized that the "100% chance of rain and possible large hail" was in fact going to postpone our session. Although we knew it was going to be windy, Mom and I were too excited (not to mention the boys' fresh haircuts) to let another week go by. This in mind, we headed out to Sullivan's on Sunday, and although it was a bit blustery, we had a blast!

So, here is a little sneak peek from the session...

How cool are these guys?! Thanks for such a great peek into your beautiful family and the opportunity to capture so many great images! I can't wait to finish the session! Because we were limited by the weather, we're going to continue this session next week, so check back for more from this fun family!
Also, see the website for my new family gallery and pricing for family sessions! It's the perfect time of year, and there's nothing like capturing the unique relationship between you and as my son, Tucker, would say (with much pride!) "the whole family." And in our house, we do not dare let him hear us leave out Goose (our Chesepeake)!

Evelyn & Tommy

Oh my goodness, do I have some sweethearts to share with you! This is my very first entry to my new blog and how fitting to have the opportunity to share with you a very new and beautiful baby girl, Evelyn (12 days old!). This little beauty and her handsome big brother, Tommy, absolutely made my heart melt, as Darla would say, like "a popsicle on the fourth of July!" What a special family! It was the perfect way to enjoy such a beautiful morning!

It's no secret that as mothers, we are given a sacred gift in our children, handed down from heaven and all wrapped up in those pretty pink cheeks and every one of those ten tiny toes! Don't those newborn toes just pull at your heartstrings? Number 3 (who it's largely possible will never be born) was knocking at the door of my heart this morning! Unfortunately, sometimes the magic seems lost in the monotony of... oh, all of it! The sleepless nights and terrible tantrums. Dirty bibs, dirty diapers... exactly how do these little angels make such big messes? But every once in a while, more often if we're lucky, we are reminded in some small moment just how truly blessed we are to share our lives and our hearts with these small wonders. Tommy and Evelyn did just that for me! A welcome dose of perspective and gratitude sent me home to shower my angels with hugs and kisses and, for a moment, my absolute undivided attention! Until I just had to get my hands on my camera and check out all of the wonderful moments from the session!

Just this morning, the Today show aired a series on the new "digital Mom" (see Bring Up Baby - By Blackberry) - a gut check, I must admit! One mother admitted to spending 6 hours a day on networking sites, while others discussed habits such as nursing while at the computer (check) or an obsession with their blackberries (umm, check). Well, it inspired me to cut back a bit. I had a sudden fear of exactly how Tucker would depict me in his first kindergarten drawing of his Mom. Could his first thought be me at the computer? No! So, a little less facebook, and a lot more of my undivided attention for my two favorite little people! So maybe, for just a little while, turn it all off and give a little extra attention to your favorite people!

Check out the slideshow for more moments in my session with this sweet family!
